The term online social networking is derived from social networking, which is the grouping of individuals into specific groups with a primary aim of socializing and making fan. Online social networking therefore refers to online communities of internet users whereby members who share common interests and hobbies meet and begin to socialize. Social networking platforms, also known as social sites, are websites like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and many others that offer people the opportunity to socialize.
Why should you join a social network?
One thing you should know is that social networking came and came to stay. It?s the way to go in contemporary times and for both young and old generations. If you want to stay in business, you need to think joining a social network. More and more people are joining now and again and the numbers are growing tremendously. If you are not on Facebook and not on any other social network, I would say you are yet to be born, whether you are in any business or not. For instance, Facebook alone has over 800 million active users of which 400 million frequent this social site every day. What does that communicate to you?
Well a platform with 800 million members is not something to joke with in real terms. This is why any success-conscious business should be visualizing a lot of opportunities and should endeavor to grab them by joining platforms like Facebook, Twitter and others not only for fan but also for marketing your online home business.
Online social networking is largely for socialization and for fan. The biggest benefit you can ever have from being on any social network is the ability to get a diversity of friends from all around the world. You can easily create your own network of friends with whom you share common interests and goals.
Remember that where there is fan there is business and money. For those who are soccer fans, have you ever imagined how many people benefit from football? I have noticed that apart from the players who earn huge amounts of money from their talents, people involved in businesses like betting, selling drinks, jerseys and many other items related to soccer earn their living when other people enjoy fan. Many have made a fortune out the fan created by football. Just look around you, you will understand what I am saying.
Through the fan you can also position yourself well to do business. Most people like fan, like socializing and are so much willing to part away with their cash to get what will give them the fan they like. Using the same example of football, when soccer fans get excited upon winning a match, they rejoice in various ways and styles. As they rejoice, they spend on the things that enhance their happiness.
That said, I would like you to look at online social networking as a very rich and fertile ground for you to base on and market your business. Learn the tricks of doing business using social networks. As you socialize, position yourself well to market your business to the so many friends you make. Some of the key factors of building a successful marketing strategy with social networks include the following.
1. Acquiring information on how the social network you have joined operates. It?s important for you to get to know very well how the network operates.
2. Planning prior to the implementation of your marketing strategies in any social network you are in. There is nothing you can ever succeed in without good planning. Effective planning, for example if you are on Facebook, will entail asking yourself and finding answers as to what you want to achieve, how you intend to achieve it and what your brand is.
3. Knowing about your targeted customers. You have to get in-depth information about your targeted customers, what they like and dislike, their behaviors, how to get them and any other related information.
4. Building a team of unlimited number of fans from whom you will get people interested in the products and services you offer.
5. Engaging your friends and other visitors regularly to create a reason for them to like you and come back to your page through provision of useful content, photos, videos, organizing contests and having fan with them.
6. Avoiding using traditional marketing methods in any social network. What I mean here is that you should avoid controlling your friends. Remember that people join social networks mainly for fan and socialization. Instead of controlling them, communicate to them, collaborate with them, educate them and entertain them.
7. Educating and entertaining your followers is a key to building a trusting relationship with them. Make it a habit to post educative and entertaining information however simple it is.
8. Establishing your presence. People can only build trust in your business if they get to know that there is a human being behind it.
9. Adding social media buttons to your website to enable your visitors to share your content with their friends.
10. Selling products related to your brand image and your niche.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) is now in the final stages of creating an area in Wells Bottom that will allow bank access to the Cumberland River for fishing purposes.
The project first came to the Clinton County Fiscal Court more than a year ago and Thursday, May 24, the path to the river was cut out and is ready for use.
?I?m going to tell people it?s ready to be used,? Fourth District Magistrate Ricky Craig said. ?I think it will get a lot of use.?
Although the project had been presented more than a year ago to the fiscal court, the KDFWR has spent three or more years on the project alone.
It became a ?go? for Clinton County when the fiscal court voted to accept a road into the county system to give access from the Wells Bottom area to the lower Cumberland River.
?It?s getting in the final stages. I talked to Scott (Merryfield), our contractor, and he has done a pretty nice improvement to your little community,? Lee Kemper, of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wilflife said. ?I?m sure it will be greatly appreciated.?
Kemper said the project was contructed to provide a 15-20 vehicle parking lot for bank fishing access.
?We are going to work with the landowner and we will have access to this resource right here,? Kemper said.
Last July, Tony Wheatley, staff assistant/land acquisition, and Eric Brooker of the engineering division with the Department of Fish and Wildlife, addressed the fiscal court about the local project they said had been in the works since 2008.
Brooker is currently overseeing the local venture, which was estimated to be at least a $140,000 project.
Wheatley said the department?s strategic plan called for increasing angler/fishermen access to the upper Cumberland River, and that was possible at an area at Wells Bottom in northern Clinton County. He added that a property owner in the area had agreed to sell land for the project and funds were in place in the form of a 75/25 matching Sport Fish Recreation grant.
The land the project is taking place on was purchased from Sam Hadley.
Craig is optimistic that in the future, there will be access to the island. He said funding will have to come through donations and fundraising in order for that to happen.
?I?m hoping a swinging bridge can be constructed at some point to give people access to the island,? Craig said.
The island is called Snow Island and is located just east of Rockhouse on the Cumberland River.
?This is going to be nice,? Craig said. ?People who want to fish can come down here at no extra charge. It?s going to be a good thing. People can bring their kids down here and things like that.?
The project, when completed, is expected to be a major tourism and economic boost to the Cumberland River area, including Clinton County.
?It will be a good thing ? it will be good for anybody who wants to fish,? Craig said. ?People could come down and just sit on the bank. We?ve got the potential right now to grow.?
Once the project is complete, Craig is hoping the county will host events at the fishing location like fishing derbys and other events.
?We need to promote it anyway we can,? Craig said. ?We need to get these kids out and take them fishing. If you get the kids, you will have the parents.?
Although funding through the county is tight and with the budget recently being approved, Craig is hopeful more funding will come from the KDFWR once the area has been utilized by the public.
?We are hoping with this project we can get some funding,? Craig said. ?The contractor said they were hoping to get it fenced and gated today (Thursday, May 24). They are moving right along with it. It?s going to be an added benefit for the county. I honestly believe that they will come up with some more funding for this project. It?s going to be too good of a thing and with the fish and wildlife behind it, it will be more interesting for people.?
The main reason for the public access to the Cumberland River is the lack of access in the area to the river. The KDFWR wanted to create more access to this fishing and recreational resource.
During that fiscal court meeting last year, Wheatley explained there were only two current access points to the Cumberland River at this time, those being below the dam and at Helm?s Bottom.
He went on to estimate that opening the third access point would create up to a $300,000 to $400,000 economic impact to this area, and noted even that was a conservative estimate.
?Most of the area around the upper Cumberland is private ownership, so there are limited access areas,? Wheatley said. He said the extra access point from Clinton County, the already estimated 36,000 number of anglers who use the river for fishing and tourism each year would likely only increase. He added that the shoal of the island at Wells Bottom would be one of the better fishing points on the Cumberland River.
In late July of 2011, the court, with assistance from County Attorney Michael Rains and advice from the Department of Local Government, voted to amend its road ordinance to help clear the way for the access road.
The project will be beneficial to our youth, local fishermen, and families, Judge Lyle Huff said at a fiscal court meeting earlier in the year, adding he felt there would be family functions such as picnics and other activities that would take place at the site in the future.
?I?m pleased with the cooperation shown by the fiscal court, my office and the Department of Fish and Wildlife in making this project possible,? he added.
Craig said that added tax revenues, plus the possibility of additional homes being built in the area as an indirect result of the project will be a positive one for the county even in years to come.
?If we (fiscal court) hadn?t of acted on it (project), another county would have,? Craig continued, in noting the department was looking for another access area from some point when they decided the area in Clinton County would be the best.

If the tickets are sold out, then you usually can't go. Sometimes there are exceptions, but usually not for a game that has already been sold out for weeks, and generally not for seats better than 99.9 percent of the people who bought them already.

Starting this fall, students will again have the option of applying to the College under a nonbinding early-action program.
In 2006, the College decided to eliminate early action for applicants as of the fall of 2007 and move to a single January 1 deadline. Administrators voiced concerns that early action favored students from affluent families and communities; then-president Derek Bok said students of lesser means tended to wait for the January deadline to apply, so that in April they could compare financial-aid offers from all schools that accepted them.
Although Princeton and the University of Virginia made similar changes, no other prominent institutions followed suit. Meanwhile, the number of applications to selective schools continued to swell, making admissions ever more competitive and increasing applicants? interest in an early option (and swamping admissions offices with thousands more files to review by the single spring deadline). Last November, Virginia announced it would reinstate early-action admissions beginning this fall. And after analyzing trends during the four intervening admissions cycles, Harvard said it had found that students from families across the income spectrum were showing greater interest in early admissions given the uncertain economy and competitive conditions.?
?Many highly talented students, including some of the best-prepared low-income and underrepresented minority students, were choosing programs with an early-action option, and therefore were missing out on the opportunity to consider Harvard,? said Faculty of Arts and Sciences dean Michael D. Smith. Princeton announced a similar policy change the same day: ?In eliminating our early program four years ago, we hoped other colleges and universities would do the same, and they haven?t,? President Shirley M. Tilghman noted. ?One consequence is that some students who really want to make their college decision as early as possible in their senior year apply to other schools early, even if their first choice is Princeton.?
Under the restored early-action option, students who apply to Harvard College by November 1 will receive a decision and financial-aid information by December 15. Students who apply by the regular deadline of January 1 are notified on April 1; the deadline for all students to declare their intent to attend is May 1.
(Meanwhile, on March 30, the College announced that it had offered admission to 2,158 applicants to the class of 2015, out of 34,950, for an acceptance rate of 6.2 percent.)

In conjunction with the announcement, the College released the tuition, room, and board costs for the 2011-2012 academic year: a total of $52,560, an increase of 3.6 percent from $50,724 this year. Undergraduate financial aid will increase 1 percent, to $160 million. (Since 2008, the College has borne the full cost for undergraduates from families with incomes of $60,000 or less; from that level to $120,000, the annual cost scales up from 1 percent to 10 percent of family income, and remains at that upper level for those with incomes up to $180,000.)
Peer institutions have announced diverse tuition and financial-aid strategies for next year. Princeton?citing the economy and its own strong endowment and fundraising results?will raise undergraduate costs 1 percent (its lowest increase in 45 years), to $50,689. Yale, on the other hand, raised its term bill 5.8 percent Tattoo guns, to $52,700, while boosting its financial-aid budget 8 percent (to $117 million) and redirecting that aid: students from families with incomes of $65,000 or less (formerly $60,000) will now receive full scholarships, while those with incomes from $130,000 to $200,000 will now pay an average of 15 percent of their income (up from 12 percent previously); those in the cohort between these ranges pay about 10 percent of income.?

Robots are more than capable of painting cars, firing rivets and doing other mechanical tasks, but it seems that cutting up a chicken properly presents quite a challenge. The Georgia Tech Research Institute hopes to change all that with a chicken-deboning robot that slices meat from the bone faster and more efficiently than any human can.
The problem is that every chicken is different, and while experts can tell at a glance where to cut, when and which way to turn the blade, and how much force?to exert, robots aren't quite as sensitive. Gary McMurray is the head of GTRI's Food Processing Technology Division, and presides over the Intelligent Cutting and Deboning System project. It's essentially a robotic hand and knife that can see in 3-D and sense when and how to cut up each individual chicken.
One robot arm holds the bird while a computer vision system contemplates its contours. After determining the depths and locations of joints, bones, and so on, it goes to work. The knife itself only makes simple cutting movements, but the arm holding the chicken can move freely, and they work together to debone with what McMurray hopes will be unprecedented precision and speed, as he explains in GTRI's press release:
Our statistics research shows that our external measurements correlate very well to the internal structure of the birds, and therefore will transition to ideal cutting paths.?In our prototype device, everything is registered to calibrated reference frames, allowing us to handle all cut geometries and to precisely align the bird and the cutting robot.
It's no niche business, either: The poultry industry comprises some $20 billion of Georgia's agriculture business, and tiny variations in efficiency are worth millions to processing plants. And robots could do it more safely as well as more quickly; with bone-sensing algorithms and millimeter precision, bone chips and other mistakes could be a thing of the past.
